ANNUAL REPORT 2025
MESSAGE
The Chairman
"It has been a privilege to serve as Chair of the MBI Board of Directors this past year. From this vantage point, I have a better appreciation as to how strongly MBI advocates for Iowa’s commercial builders while offering an industry leading assortment of education programs and exclusive member resources."
- Gordon Parker | Rinderknecht Associates, Inc.

ADVANCING THE
INDUSTRY

"
THE BREAKFAST CLUB
"The strategic planning process has been one of the most inspiring experiences of my career. Having the opportunity to connect with so many of our members—hearing their ideas, challenges, and visions for the future—was truly energizing. Their engagement reminded me just how passionate and forward-thinking our industry is. This plan is a direct reflection of those voices and the collective desire to keep building something better together. I’m incredibly excited for what the next five years will bring and confident that our plan is both responsive to today’s needs and innovative enough to lead us into the future. The best part is knowing that it was shaped by our members, for our members—and that’s what makes it so powerful."
-Tara Rinehart - Vice President of Industry Education
VISION 2030

STRATEGIC PLAN FOCUS GROUP

"The 2025 Legislative Session at the Iowa Capitol was marked with a round of successful positive changes for the Iowa building industry and business climate. First, we lowered the amount of retainage that can be withheld on public projects - putting more money back in contractors' hands. Secondly, we enthusiastically supported the reduction (cut in half) of taxable wage base used in collecting unemployment insurance taxes. These most recent legislative wins demonstrate our commitment to our members, and we look forward to taking that approach into the 2026 Legislative Session as well."
- Ben Hammes - Vice President of Association Affairs and Member Engagement
Advocacy
"

“This year has been a powerful reminder of what happens when education meets engagement. I have felt such genuine inspiration from the members I've had the privilege to connect with throughout 2025 - whether it was at our MBI BuildHer events, Lunch Clubs, Town Halls, or leadership programs. Every conversation, every session, and every new idea shared reinforced how passionate our members are about growth, innovation, and elevating this industry together.
What excites me the most about the next five years is how responsive and forward-thinking our education and training initiatives have become. We've created learning opportunities that meet people where they are - on the jobsite, in the classroom, or online - and that momentum is only growing. From transforming field leadership programs to expanding MBI LIVE and introducing new wellness and workforce initiatives, we are building a framework that not only develops skills but also unlocks the potential within every person we serve. The future of construction education in Iowa is bright, and I'm energized knowing MBI is leading that charge.”
- Tara Rinehart - Vice President of Industry Education
