MIKE SIMPSON
THE BUILD IOWA AWARD
Since its inception in 1989, there have been 34 individuals bestowed with the Build Iowa Award. These individuals symbolize the leaders of not only MBI, but Iowa's construction industry and the communities in which they do business. The Build Iowa Award recipient exemplifies the tenets of our organization. From the perspective of contributions to the industry, the 2023 recipient Mike Simpson has certainly excelled.
THE MBI RESUME
Mike has served as the chair on the MBI Board of Directors; President of the Des Moines Construction Council; Board Chair of the Construction Financial Management Association; while also serving on the ACE Mentoring Board and a Trustee on the Carpenters Local 106 Retirement Fund.
COMMUNITY
Equally impressive has been his involvement in the community. Mike has served on the Des Moines Redevelopment Company Board; the Greater Des Moines committee; The Greater Des Moines Partnership’s CEO Commitment to Racial Equity in Des Moines; and the Central Place Business Association.
